The Grand Sablon Antiques Market has been running on Place du Grand Sablon in Brussels since 1960, making it one of the oldest markets of its kind in Europe. It started when a local antique dealer asked the priest of Notre-Dame du Sablon church for permission to display engravings after mass, which led to the idea of bringing several dealers together in a proper market. Today it runs every Saturday and Sunday from 9am, with dealers selling silverware, jewellery, paintings, ceramics, glassware, tableware, Chinese porcelain, small furniture, and African art. The market is in the heart of Brussels’ antiques district, surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and chocolate shops. It is reachable by bus and tram, with several parking options.
