The Vörösmarty Square Christmas Market (Vörösmarty téri karácsonyi vásár) takes place in the heart of Budapest, attracting millions of visitors each year. The square features a monumental Christmas tree decorated in classic Christmas colors. Located at the start of Váci Street, the market is just a 10-minute walk from the Advent Bazilika Christmas Market at St. Stephen’s Basilica.
The market showcases nearly 100 local craft exhibitors alongside food stalls. Vendors sell handmade ceramics, jewelry, glass art, leather goods, wooden crafts, textiles, and Christmas decorations. Hungarian specialties include paprika, honey, natural soaps, and various artisan products.
Food stalls offer Hungarian treats like kürtőskalács (chimney cake), mézeskalács (gingerbread), and marcipán (marzipan). A small train ride is available for children at no charge, adding to the family-friendly atmosphere.
The craft exhibitors and small train will be available until 28 December 2025, after which the square prepares for New Year’s Eve celebrations.
