Nestled in the heart of Amsterdam on the Spui square, a charming little book market takes place every Friday. Booksellers from across the Netherlands come here to sell antique and second-hand books. While the market predominantly features older, sought-after art and photography books, it occasionally surprises with long-lost treasures. In addition to these finds, you’ll also encounter affordable prints, often catering to tourists. Naturally, many of the books sold are in Dutch but you can also find a selection of books in English, French, German and other languages.
The market will only be cancelled in extreme circumstances, such as severe weather conditions. This happens very rarely; rain showers are not a reason for cancellation.
