Every Tuesday morning downtown Garéoult, a typical Provençal village of 5,300 inhabitants, becomes host to a vibrant market. With over 130 stalls in good weather, visitors can explore a wide range of offerings, including food and craft products like clothing, decorations, and hardware. Some the delicacies offered are pistou soup, fried eggplant Provençale style, dried tomatoes, pissaladières, fougasse bread, soccas (chickpea pancakes), and tapenade.
Since 2019, the provençal market in Garéoult market has been designated as the Committed Market, and the city has been actively supporting exhibitors in their efforts to promote sustainability. Initiatives such as waste sorting and recovery, combating food waste by redistributing or transforming unsold edible items to charities, and promoting local and short supply chains have been embraced with enthusiasm.
Voted as the 2nd most beautiful market in France in 2023.
