The Porcellino Market is a tourist market in Florence, Italy. The daily market – one of Florence’s most visited – generally sells leather goods and knick-knacks, with merchandise that’s slightly more selective than what’s found at the San Lorenzo market.Β
Under a beautiful 16th century loggia (a covered exterior gallery or corridor), this market is known by three different names: Mercato del Porcellino, named after the wild boar statue located at one end; Loggia del Mercato Nuovo; and the Straw Market, as traditional Florentine straw hats were sold there starting from the 19th century.
