The Place du Père Chaillet Organic Market (Marché biologique Place du Père Chaillet) is an outdoor produce market in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. On Wednesdays the market operates as a so called “marché de l’après-midi” (afternoon market), created specially for after-work shoppers. It’s also one of the few truly organic markets operating in the French capital.
More and more people want to eat organic to take care of the planet and stay healthy. But it’s not always easy to find pesticide-free food, support local businesses, and avoid too much packaging. That’s why the mayor of the 11th arrondissement of Paris started the first organic market in their district, at Place du Père Chaillet in 2018. Four organic shops from the arrondissement have stalls at the market selling fruits, vegetables, spices and honey. Other stallholders offer dried fruits, meat, cheese, fish, flowers, tea, soap and more.
