The Mercator Markt is a creative market in Amsterdam where locals, creatives, entrepreneurs, musicians, and social initiatives gather at Mercatorplein for a day full of shopping pleasure and entertainment. You can browse through stalls offering gifts, creations, local or international delicacies, vintage items, and second-hand bargains. Take part in various activities and enjoy live performances while indulging in snacks and drinks on the terrace.
The Winter Special is a great place to pick up a gift for Christmas and Sinterklaas. At the food stands you can enjoy international cuisines from Dutch poffertjes to Japanese Teriyaki, Indian biryani to Indonesian barbecue! Warm yourself up with a hot drink under the terrace heaters and dance with the live entertainment.
Each year, visitors can donate food, toys, unwanted gifts and self care products. With the collected items, tailor made gift packages are assembled for local neighbours and families in need. Last year, over 300 packages were gifted! Want to help? Just look in your cupboards for anything you are not using and take it to the market or buy something at the market.
