The Innsbruck Marktplatz Christmas Market (Christkindlmarkt Marktplatz) is one of the several Christmas markets of Innsbruck. It takes place on the market square called Marktplatz, directly on the Inn river and next to the old town (Altstadt). The view from the square is one of Innsbruck’s most popular photo spots. It captures the colourful houses of Mariahilf, with the river in the foreground and the impressive Nordkette mountain range behind. This bustling area is also a major transport hub, easily accessible and always lively.
During the holiday season, the square transforms into a spectacular Christmas destination with a 14-metre-high Swarovski Crystal Tree erected in the middle of the market.
The Innsbruck Marktplatz Christmas Market is particularly family-friendly, with a nostalgic merry-go-round and a puppet theatre with regular puppet shows. Meanwhile, adults can explore the over 68 stands with handicrafts, Christmas products, and some delicious bites.
