The Leiden weekly market brings life to the city centre of Leiden every Wednesday and Saturday from morning until the late afternoon. Set along the Nieuwe Rijn canal, this 800-year-old market features over 75 vendors. Stretching across several historic bridges including the Koornbrug, Botermarkt, and Karnemelksbrug, the market offers everything from fresh vegetables to clothing, delicatessen items to cosmetics. Vendors line both sides of the canal and take over bridges, allowing visitors to shop for their weekly groceries with a view.
The Leiden weekly market has a wide range of products. You can find fresh fruits and vegetables, fish and seafood, different types of cheese, and meat and chicken. There are also stalls selling fresh flowers, bread, and pastries. For a quick snack, vendors sell hot foods like stroopwafels and poffertjes, as well as nuts and other snacks. Beyond food, the market has stalls selling clothing and accessories, cosmetics, household items, and international foods and delicacies.
