If you’re after gourmet pleasure during the Christmas season, the Gourmet Advent market, or as the locals know it, the “Genussmarkt bei der Oper,” is the right spot for you in Vienna! It’s a small, atmospheric market in the heart of Vienna, located in front of the Vienna State Opera.
Among the stalls, producers from Austria and Italy offer their goods. Market stalls are piled high with parmesan, salami, pasta, and black truffles, feeling like an outdoor delicatessen. However, as it is an Advent market, if the idea of gourmet doesn’t excite you, you can still get the basics like roasted chestnuts or mulled wine as you stroll around.
The Gourmet Advent market is originally organized by the Haas&Haas tea rooms, ensuring that in case of bad weather, a glass roof covers the booths and provides shelter.
