Every Wednesday throughout the summer, the historic Market Square of Gouda transforms into the Gouda Antique Market or “Gouds Montmartre,” a bustling antique and flea market reminiscent of the brocantes Paris. Set against the backdrop of the centuries-old Gouda Town Hall, this open-air event has become one of the largest of its kind, attracting around 4,000 visitors each time.
From the morning until the afternoon 140 stalls offer a treasure trove of unique items. Antiques, curiosities, old books, prints, records, stamps, biscuit tins, and collectibles from “grandmother’s time” are just a few examples of what you might discover. Whether you’re a tourist, day-tripper, or local resident, you’ll find plenty to explore as you rummage through the diverse array of goods.
The Gouda antique market has grown into a significant event, occurring about sixteen times a year. It’s the perfect destination for those seeking bargains, birthday gifts, or one-of-a-kind antique pieces. The market caters to all tastes, featuring everything from vintage clothing to antique furniture. Experience a slice of Paris in the heart of Gouda, the famous Dutch cheese city!
