The Amsterdam Flower Market (Bloemenmarkt in Dutch) takes place along the Singel a canal in central Amsterdam. The market is unique, because all the merchandise is displayed on floating barges. Nowadays it is mostly aimed at tourists and besides flower bulbs and exotic plants, you’ll also find a lot of souvenirs shops. In recent years there have been requests from local organisations to discontinue the market and restore the canal.
