The International Christmas Market in Essen features 140 stalls from 20 different cultures across the city centre of Essen, Germany. Visitors can explore international crafts, decorations, and food, including items from the Baltic States, Italy, Greece, and France. Along with Peruvian cuisine and traditional German treats like mulled wine and roasted almonds, the market offers a medieval area, historic carousel, and light installations – a 75-year tradition. Named Europe’s Best Sustainable Christmas Market, the International Christmas Market in Essen combines global holiday traditions with eco-friendly practices, including green electricity, reusable dishes, a ban on plastic bags, and a focus on regional and fair-trade products.
