The Hoi An Night Market is one of the most popular markets in central Vietnam. It is located in the heart of Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The market runs every evening from 5pm to 11pm, along Nguyen Hoang Street and beside the Thu Bon River.
The market is strictly no vehicle, pedestrian-only during operating hours. You’ll find a mix of vendors selling souvenirs, lanterns, clothing, accessories, electronics and handmade crafts. Hoi An is particularly known for its lanterns, and you’ll see them in many places here. You can also get on a boat to release lanterns on the rivers.
The Hoi An Night Market also has many food stalls where you can try local Vietnamese dishes. Food you can find here are banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich with baguette), cao lau (noodle dish), white rose dumplings, crepes, fresh fruits and spring rolls. Prices at the food stalls are generally affordable, although it’s worth knowing that some vendors may charge tourist prices, so don’t hesitate to compare and negotiate before buying. You can find many restaurants along the market too.
To get to the market, cross the river via the bridge into the Ancient Town. It is walkable from most hotels in central Hoi An. If you’re staying further out, a bicycle, motorbike taxi, or Grab will get you there easily. The market gets busy on weekends and during peak tourist season.
