One of France’s largest flea markets, the Amiens Flea Market (La Grande RĂ©derie d’Amiens) spans 51 streets across 15 kilometres through the historic city centre. Held twice yearly in the spring and autumn, this market has operated since 1909, evolving from a neighbourhood garage sale into an international cultural event while maintaining its authentic character.
The market features 2,000 vendors including 700 professional dealers (primarily British and Belgian) and 1,300 private sellers. Only items with history and character are permitted – no new merchandise allowed. Expect to find antiques, collectibles, vintage furniture, old books, jewellery, artwork, household items, decoration, vinyl records, toys, clothes and more.
Vendors already set up during the night, so arriving as early as 2am offers the best selection of finds. Prepare for crowds, the market get especially busy in the morning.
Set in the “Little Venice of the North,” the market winds through Amiens’ canal-lined streets and historic textile district. The city’s heritage dates to the 12th century with its famous spinning mills and fabric production. The historic Place au Fil, marked by its belfry representing the merchants’ association, sits at the market’s heart.
