In the courtyard of the St. Mary’s Church (Marienkirchhof) in Lübeck you’ll find a Historic Christmas Market (Historischer Weihnachtsmarkt) with all sorts of craftspeople demonstrating long-forgotten skills and offering their wares. If you are looking for a medieval experience, you can find it here with actors dressed in historical costumes walking around and providing entertainment. In the evenings, it gets especially magical: candles and countless red poinsettias bathe the square in a magical light. Music and a mug of mead complete the cozy medieval experience.
