The Markt der Engel Cologne (Angels Market) is an elegant market characterised by beautiful white light fairy lights and stars. It takes place at the Neumarkt, close to the famous shopping streets Schildergasse, Mittelstrasse, and Ehrenstrasse. During Advent, this area transforms into an enchanting Christmas world with many special features. As visitors stroll through the market, they’ll encounter magical angels, the Winter Queen with her fascinating live snow owl and her friend, the little four-legged unicorn, as well as illuminated mythical creatures on stilts. A unique starry sky illuminates the wide alleyways.
The Markt der Engel Cologne is famous for its three distinctly different mulled wine stalls, each set up with great attention to detail. Mulled wine, punch, and other warm drinks are served. Follow the scent of mandarins, almonds, cinnamon, and vanilla, and enjoy deliciously fresh-mixed cocktails – both hot and cold – at the new cocktail bar.
The market is also known for its selection of sophisticated, distinctive products for sale. You can find decorative and ornamental items, practical gifts, arts and crafts made from natural materials like glass, felt, paper, stone, wood, and metals – including many original creations, unique pieces, and limited editions.
Visitors can also enjoy specialty foods like flame-grilled salmon, traditional spätzle, potato pancakes, or the Original Cologne Cathedral Waffle® from Café Riese.
