The Ulm Christmas Market (Ulmer Weihnachtsmarkt) is a traditional German holiday market set in the heart of Ulm, a city in the south German state of Baden-Württemberg. It features around 130 beautifully decorated stalls around the world’s tallest church tower at Ulm Minster (Ulmer Münster). This enchanting market runs during Advent time in 2025, and is open daily. See the opening dates and hours below!
Visitors can explore the charming alleyways filled with artisan crafts, classic and modern Christmas decorations, gift ideas, and culinary specialties. The majestic Christmas tree with over 18,000 small lights creates a magical atmosphere alongside a living nativity scene with real animals.
Families will enjoy special attractions including the storytelling yurt featuring tales and fairy tales from around the world, a children’s carousel, and other highlights. There’s a 300-square-meter ice skating rink in the heart of the market (to be confirmed for 2025!), offering winter fun for visitors of all ages with free admission.
Throughout the market, you’ll find delicious regional specialties including traditional Swabian dishes, sweet treats, glühwein (mulled wine), and warm punch. The festive atmosphere is enhanced by holiday music from the Münster portal and the aroma of Christmas spices wafting through the lanes.
The market is organised into themed areas with streets named after Christmas characters like Nikolausgass (St. Nicholas Street) and Engelesgass (Angel Street), making it easy to navigate between different sections offering food, crafts, decorations, clothing, and more.
