The Rouen Christmas Market (Marché de Noël de Rouen) takes place in front of the famous Rouen Cathedral from mid-November to the end of December. The market features 60 chalets on the Cathedral Square, offering gift ideas, holiday decorations, and seasonal foods and drinks. The vintage carousel returns each year as an iconic part of Rouen’s Christmas market. Throughout the season, the market offers entertainment such as fairy tale animations, musical performances, and Santa Claus visits.
A short walk away, Place de la Calende features a fairy garden with Santa’s house, where children can meet Santa. Located between the main market and Place de la Calende, several chalets showcase creations from 30 Normandy artisans, featuring jewellery, ceramics, and textiles, supporting local craftsmanship with unique gift options.
Set in the capital of Normandy, Rouen has a rich medieval heritage and Gothic architecture. The city, famously associated with Joan of Arc and immortalised in Monet’s cathedral paintings, provides a beautiful backdrop for the Christmas market.
