The Maubert Market (Marché Maubert) is a produce market in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. It’s a small outdoor neighbourhood market on the left bank of Paris. It is a descendent of the first known market in Paris called “Palu market” held from the 5th century near the Petit Pont (bridge) on the Île de la Cité, the island on the river Seine. After a few centuries, the market was relocated to its current location, which is known today as Place Maubert.
It is the quintessential Parisian market, open three days a week, with vendors selling fruit and vegetables, herbs, eggs, flowers, cheese, meat, fresh fish and seafood and more. It’s ideally located to pick up some food for a picnic at the Luxembourg Gardens only a 15 min walk away.
