The Lyon Flea Market, known as Les Puces du Canal (Canal Flea Market), is the second largest flea market in France and the fifth largest in Europe. Located just outside Lyon in the Villeurbanne commune, 20 minutes from Lyon city centre, it attracts half a million visitors each year.
The market spans 6 hectares and hosts around 500 merchants, including 200 permanent shops and 400 outdoor pitches for “unpackers”: sellers who come and go each week. It’s open year-round, including public holidays. Not all shops are open on Thursdays and Saturdays, as many dealers spend weekdays sourcing stock or making deliveries. Expect around 70% of shops open on Thursdays and 50% on Saturdays. Sundays are the busiest day.
What you’ll find: Antiques, vintage items, bric-a-brac and design pieces, furniture, paintings, chandeliers, vintage toys, posters, vinyl records, books, industrial furniture, garden furniture, home decor and vintage clothing. Only pre-owned items (up to the 1990s) are allowed; new goods, electronics and car parts are not permitted.
