The Kaiserweihnacht Bergisel Christmas Market is a Christmas market in Innsbruck, Austria. The market takes place near the Tirol Panorama museum on the Bergisel, a 746 metre high hill that lies to the south of the city. Kaiserweihnacht means ‘imperial Christmas’. It is named after the official name of the museum, Das Tirol Panorama mit Kaiserjägermuseum (Tirol Panorama with the Museum of the Imperial Infantry).
The Kaiserweihnacht Bergisel Christmas Market is open on the weekends only. The focuses on high quality and regional products. You can browse the cozy stalls filled with carefully selected handcrafted products and packaged goods from regional producers, including honey, gingerbread, and other artisanal items.
A highlight is the exceptional glühwein and punch, crafted by renowned quality winemaker Ferdinand Zweiger. There are also festive treats such as raclette and spätzle (egg noodles).
Perhaps the best part of this Christmas market is the breathtaking view over the snowcapped mountains and the city of Innsbruck sparkling in the valley below. The twinkling lights of the city blend with the starry sky, creating a magical winter panorama.
