The Cologne Harbour Christmas Market is a maritime-themed market that takes place in a picturesque setting overlooking the Rhine, next to the Chocolate Museum. There are over 70 market stalls in snow-white pagoda tents reminiscent of ships’ sails.
Visitors can enjoy regional specialties and international cuisine, as well as fish specialties that fit the theme of the market. On the large, real three-masted wooden ship traditional glühwein (hot mulled wine) is served, while the Harbour Lighthouse Pub is serving “Feuerzangenbowle” (fire-tongs punch) and mulled beer. New this year is the Craftbeer Maritime Container offering international beers, beer tastings and hot gin cider.
Adding to the magic, a towering 48-meter Ferris wheel offers breathtaking views of Cologne’s skyline, featuring the majestic Cathedral, the winding Rhine River, and the twinkling lights of the harbour Christmas market below. The festive harbour comes alive with entertainment, including sea shanties and pirate performances at the “Lighthouse Spelunke.”
