The Pekmarkt Amsterdam is a weekly market in Amsterdam-North, operating three times a week on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Until 2014, it was known as the Mosveldmarkt, having operated for decades at Mosveld before relocating to Van der Pekstraat (where it got its current name from). Recently, due to construction work and housing renovations affecting Van der Pekstraat’s accessibility, the market has moved back to its original Mosveld location for at least three years while an independent organisation evaluates the best permanent location.
This traditional Dutch market offers a diverse selection of fresh produce, flowers, roasted nuts, clothing, textiles, and fresh fish. Beyond the regular market, there are also special themed markets. Fridays focus on “real food” with a farmers’ and organic market, while Saturdays transform into a vibrant “bonte markt” featuring performances, music, crafts, and design. On both themed days, shoppers can still find their everyday essentials like broccoli and oranges alongside the specialty offerings.
